Educator, Artist and Activist Kelly ‘GreenLight’ Thomas comes to us from Newark, New Jersey with roots in Alabama and The Commonwealth of Dominica.  Kelly holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Theater from NYU’s Steinhardt School.   Kelly also holds a Sound and Music Healing Credential from the New York Open Center. Currently Kelly serves as the Wellness and Leadership Coordinator at Williamsburg Charter High School in Brooklyn NY, spearheading the school’s Restorative Justice Programming. In addition to designing culturally relevant programming for adults and young people around the New York area, Kelly is a Performing Artist, Director for Theater and Founder of the “Black Arts Retreat” series. As Singer & Songwriter, Kelly GreenLight is in the process of releasing her first album of Healing Music, entitled “Photosynthesis.” Her beloved brainchild “Black Arts Retreat” is celebrating its 5th year of hosting creative wellness space for people of color around the world. Kelly’s Directing Credits include two North American Premieres of work by Caribbean Playwrights: Karl O’Brian Williams’ The Black that I Am and Dr. Alwin Bully’s Folk Nativity.  Identity, Social Politics and Communal Healing are themes seen throughout Kelly’s portfolio. She is so excited to be joining the Art Rules family and invites you to check out some of her work here.
